Situation

• In 2023 Turkiye suffered an earthquake that killed more than 50,000 people with more than 400,000 people living in container camps

• Many of these schools and homes have limited/no access to power

• It will be many years before the region is rebuilt and reliable electricity restored

Mission 

• In 2023 I founded Solar Futures to support schools and kids impacted by the earthquakes with solar power – providing free, reliable electricity 

Achievements

• Partnered with Yuva House Project from the earthquake region to identify the first opportunity –a three unit school in Hatay, Turkiye

• Worked with Aluzga Solar in Istanbul for design / layout and materials

• Raised $10,600 for solar equipment and inverters/batteries

• Mobilized team and installed in July 2024

• Units are fully commissioned and functioning

• Have identified two potential future schools
